Its about to go on Ebay next week.

Normally retails for approx £200 inc post and packaging from germany.
Also - when you order from the shop you have to buy the pole seperately, and get decent pegs as they supply naff plastic ones. Save yourself the hassle and buy this one.
Yours for the great price of £150.00. I'll even post it to you.
Comfortably sleeps 4.

Comment or email if you like.

cheers.

Alternative therapy....WHAT??

So I work for a National Care company who has in its care children and adults who are severely disabled, mentally disabled, autistic and so on.
Today some very odd parents (they really are) of a profoundly physically disabled young lad bought in a Witch Doctor to see if he could help.
Yeah right.
This isn't a case of banishing a demon (whatever) and he'll suddenly leap upright.
This boy is not in a good way but he joins in and gets what he can out of any given situation, is it really going to help him bringing in a voodoo practitioner who has no hope whatsoever in improving the situaion. NO.
This is the parents trying to ease some misplaced idea of guilt by attempting every possible means to try and make their child better. It simply is not going to happen and reality needs to be faced. Admirable in some odd way maybe, but not right. The kid is physically disabled, he's not barking.

Mind you, it made me laugh a hell of a lot when afterwards Sharon (co-worker) went and told the Witch Doctor that he was an arse.

Apart from that, new furniture turned up this morning for my new roof terrace at work. Had coffee in the slightly warming sunshine which was great; and the view was brilliant - the A3 stretching for miles - lovely.

There is a lot of aggression and violence
too.

The Emperor naturally follows the Empress. Like an infant, he is filled with enthuiasm, energy, aggression. He is direct, guileless and all too often irresistible. Unfortunately, like a baby he can also be a tyrant. Impatient, demanding, controlling. In the best of circumstances, he signifies the leader that everyone wants to follow, sitting on a throne that indicates the solid foundation of an Empire he created, loves and rules with intelligence and enthusiasm. But that throne can also be a trap, a responsibility that has the Emperor feeling restless, bored and discontent.

What Tarot Card are You?
Take the Test to Find Out.

Post BiC

What a laugh...Burnt is Clean piratical capers.....simply great.

Although Lawrence was sorely missed I thought that Simon and the Crew performed brilliantly and the weekend was the best yet of the BiC series; although clearly the english cooking has some way to go to reach the giddy gastronomic heights of the Frenchies last time round.

Captain F, Flik, Rugby and Chris, Mr Blacklung...and all the others a big thank you for a blinkin marvellous time.

Highlights - literally falling over the treasure and then attempting to stealthily leg it with Flik whilst clanking under the weight of the booty.

Getting lost in the forest while searching for treasure which we had re-hidden, stumbling into the thieves grave-yard, digging up graves by moonlight and un-earthing the 2nd lot of swag that weekend.

Laughing so much when the Doctor and Flik hid round a corner and found themselves next to a were-wolf who was also hiding in the same corner. Genius.

The Captains Birthday party in the Cottage, Cat-O-grams, cake and champagne, drunkeness.

The Egg shoot set up by Rugby and Chris in the morning. Laughing as they produced a worryingly large arsenal of weapons from their kit.

Apologies - not keeping my mouth closed more, getting arrested by the militia, saying I don't get cold and then proceeding to get very cold and telling everyone about it several times throughout the night, bidding whilst unconscious at the map auction.

Loved it.

Beer & Ice Cream

Justification for beer and Ice cream.

As we all know, it takes 1 calorie to heat 1 gram of water 1 degree centigrade. Translated into meaningful terms, this means that if you eat a very cold dessert (generally consisting of water in large part), the natural processes which raise the consumed dessert to body temperature during the digestive cycle literally sucks the calories out of the only available source, your body fat.

For example, a dessert served and eaten at near 0 degrees C (32.2 deg. F) will in a short time be raised to the normal body temperature of 37 degrees C (98.6 deg. F). For each gram of dessert eaten, that process takes approximately 37 calories as stated above. The average desser tportion is 6 oz, or 168 grams. Therefore, by operation of thermodynamiclaw, 6,216 calories (1 cal./gm/deg. x 37 deg. x 168 gms) are extracted from body fat as the dessert's temperature is normalized.

Allowing for the 1,200 latent calories in the dessert, the net calorie loss is approximately 5,000 calories.

Obviously, the more cold dessert you eat,the better off you are and the faster you will lose weight, if that is your goal.

Now - for the most important and relevant bit.....

This process works equally well when drinking very cold beer in frosted glasses. Each ounce of beer contains 16 latent calories, but extracts 1,036 calories (6,216 cal. per 6 oz. portion) in the temperature normalizing process. Thus the net calorie loss per ounce of beer is 1,020 calories. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to calculate that 12,240 calories (12 oz. x 1,020 cal./oz.) are extracted from the body in the process of drinking a can of beer.

Frozen desserts, e.g., ice cream, are even more beneficial, since it takes 83 cal./gm to melt them (i.e., raise them to 0 deg. C) and an additional 37 cal./gm to further raise them to body temperature. The results here are really remarkable, and it beats running hands down.

Unfortunately, for those who eat pizza as an excuse to drink beer, pizza (loaded with latent calories and served above body temperature) induces an opposite effect. But, thankfully, as the astute reader should have already reasoned, the obvious solution is to drink a lot of beer with pizza and follow up immediately with large bowls of ice cream.

We could all be thin if we were to adhere religiously to a pizza, beer, and ice cream diet.

Happy eating!

(get someone else to try this first).

Cognitive dreaming / thinking / thoughts

I watched a series on T.v about the life of manic depressives, it centred around Stephen Fry and was really informative and also interesting. Before this program I didn't have any real understanding of depression, how it affected people in different ways and the major influence that it exerts over sufferer's life. (Of course I wouldn't presume to have any great understanding just from watching a program.) The current thinking according to Fry is that it isn't just a state of mind that you can 'snap' out of, it is a disease - an affliction if you will. This apparently came as some relief to Fry who, prior to this, had had no rational explanation for his past behavior. I was astounded by the effect that it has, the compulsiveness that it can drive in people, the catastrophic results on friends and families.
Before this I just assumed that it was merely a state of mind that some people were more prone to than others - how naive.

But as a consequence it did get me thinking about certain aspects of thought and the mind and related processes which is a good thing as sometimes I am guilty of not thinking enough.

While in an awake and physical state it takes most of your conscious effect to focus on events around you as they are guided by emotions. The duality of the physical experience - that is the bi-polar aspect (thanks to Fry for info here). This mirrors swings in emotions and constant changes in environment as all your feelings are in fluctuation. So in this physical/awake state the goal must be to always create balance and stability in order to lead what we would call a 'normal' life.
I take it that it is the chemical/link/neruon (i don't know the right word or term) in certain people's make-up that is missing which causes the Bi-polarity or Depression to manifest.

So thats the wide awake world but does it cross over into sleep, are dreams affected in the same way by emotional swings? Or are they not subject to the same pressures as awake states as you are not consciously concentrating on events around you that are guided by emotions? I don't know.

It is clear enough that dreams are affected by emotions, but whether they are the same emotions felt in an awake state I haven't a clue.

I'll think some more upon it.
I am frustrated by my inability to concentrate long enough on one subject - i need to find a method of honing concentration.

Great weekend.
It was nice to know what was happening for once with regard to the plot - even though my input consisted of getting the completely wrong end of the stick most of the time. I'll pay more attention next time!

I had a look at the Shards forum and there are a couple of mentions of the group:

"Thanks to the Jack O' Lantern/Crimson Rag for spending much of Saturday night in the corner that contained most of my stuff without stealing it."

Didn't notice nice stealable type stuff - must be slipping - However I am sure the Captain managed to slip away with a nice drinks case - although given back of course!

"Thanks also to the friendly JoL sea folk, who gave us cake (Mmmmm) and lots of lovely toffee. The rest of you were rubbish for not having sweets ready on Gleekoween, but at least you'll be prepared for next year!"

The fudge - Amazing.
The Toffee - tasty but painful - this chap must have had teeth of granite.

thanks for a good weekend to all who were there.
